Bio

David Christopher Kendall was born in Johnson City, New York, but doesn't remember a thing other than being slapped on the bottom in a green  hospital room, and that the perp wore a mask.

Dividing his childhood between Denver, Colorado and Farmington, New Mexico, visions of  the British Invasion pop and the West Coast 60's rock started dancing in his head. When he heard 'Good Vibrations' and later 'Heroes and Villains' by the Beach Boys, he knew he wanted to be a singer, and to sing in vocal groups as well. When he heard  'Eleanor Rigby' & 'Classical Gas', the love affair with  'art-pop rock' was permanent. He refers to detractors of  'MacArthur Park' as people who 'just don't get it'.

Rock & Roll & the British Invasion music have afforded David formative years to cherish, a lifetime of good influence, and a brain that is as quick and flexible as any Seeburg 100 jukebox.

David decided  to write and perform songs with a message  with the guiding influence of Phil Ochs, Cat Stevens and Paul Simon. In 1976 he co-founded the San Diego  folk music-theatre group 'The Jackstraws', with  multi-instrumentalist and composer Jeff Pekarek. David's original  music has been simmering in a folk/contemporary stew for years, and is now ready to serve.

David continues to create songs with messages of personal change, conscience, and social significance; songs for these complex times..

Artist Statement: Why your support is so crucial.

Dear friends and consumers of recorded music :

We all know how easy it is to get free, or nearly free music online, and this makes the livelihoods and careers of musician/songwriters more tenuous and uncertain than ever. The music groups of the 60's & 70's had more studio comforts at their disposal, but they were ripped off mercilessly by their management. Touring and selling CD's or Vinyl in person is probably the only sustainable model today for the singer/songwriter. That's what I'm pursuing now, between Paris & London. I'm still studying and learning about the best way to bring my music to market, as I'm not convinced the Amazon, CD Baby, or iTunes has a recoding artist's best interest at heart.

The best support you can give me right now is to share my music around through my YouTube links and Facebook pages. Your supportive comments on YouTube really mean a lot!  When I have found the best way to bring my music to the marketpace, I hope you'll go one further   and download digital copies or buy the hard copy CD. Thanks!

Audio Facts

It's a bit retro, but I truly hope to fulfill my dream of pressing my music on vinyl, still the highest quality audio available, because the audio spectrum is not compressed. Help me inch towards this goal of creating an album worth owning, not just a song worth downloading.
