'Fa-la-long' is a ballad attempting to reconcile loss of love with ' brave wisdom' . Flavored with the borrowed air of an Olde English Ballad. Not yet a folk-rock classic, but instead framed in a 'classical folk' setting with Melissa Morgan on the pedal harp and Jeff Pekarek on the contrabass. ... This song is included on the current full-length recording project 'Breakfast in Haste'.
Fa La Long
(Lyrics)
Life road is turning
You only follow, learning
It takes a curve
You go, you cannot stray
Like it's the only path to guide
you day to day
I see you in a summer sweetness
Cover with love all those who greet you
Sunlight is following you
And I've loved you so fa la la la long
And I've loved you so fa la la la long
And I've loved you so fa la la la long
So where can I go?
"Go on!" they only say.
A hundred different good men preaching
"This is the only way!"
You go, you look, you grow, you change, you see.
That's what you do for you
That's what I do for me.
I see you in a mystery parting
No cry of help can cut and reach you
Bound by the ropes tied by you
And I've loved you so fa la la la long
And I've loved you so fa la la la long
And I've loved you so fa la la la long.
Fa la la la Fa la la la
Fa la la la long.
Blue Melody
(lyrics)
They say' "Love it or leave it, but don't you ever grieve it!"
But that's not the case with Marie.
She's gonna catch that man by being as loving
as she can be.
So she sits around waiting for her phone to ring
and hums a blue melody.
Well she knows what she wants when she answers the phone and he says
"Why don't you come here...alone?"
She brings some well-worn playing cards and a
book or two if he suddenly has to go.
And as she locks up her little room
she sings a happy little tune with a blue melody.
Cars just adore the way she walks down the street sportin' her scarf, and her curly hair.
She's plenty to honk at but she can't hear the rumbling of her heart in her stomach
down there.
She rushes to meet him, and he doesn't see her,
And it's giving our poor girl a fright.
Could something be wrong with our Mr.Right tonight?
She's not trying to ask for what she is getting
But "Love Conquers All!" sez Marie.
So she's gonna keep on creating and orchestrating
'Love's Sweet Sad Song'...indefinitely.
And she sings it with a happy face, but
didn't I hear a trace of a
Blue Melody.....uh...a Blue Melody...
Now sing it with a happy little face
A Blue Melody
